What are antony’s intentions? How does this affect the rest of the play?

In the beginning of the sililoquy antony is begging for caesar’s forgiveness “O, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth, that I am meek and gentle with these butchers!” Antony is using a smokescreen to make the conspirators think that he is not after them. Earlier on the play antony shook hands with the conspirators and he rubbed his hand with caesar’s blood. This could confuse the conspirators which is exactly what antony wants. However antony feels that is not only the conspirators foult that caesar is dead is the whole of Italy including him. This is why at the beginnig of the sililoquy he is begging for forgiveness. He feels that he has to do something to revenge caesar – to kill the conspirators. In my opinion antony is going to take a big role in the play. I think he is going to make them kill themselves. And when they are all dead he will do the same they did to caesar when they killed him which is to wash their hands with his blood to show italy who killed the leader. Antony could be italy’s new leader. Maybe he is the perfect person to replace caesar. And to take italy through the right path.

  1. Juan,

Another excellent start, what I like most – is that your voice and interpretation of the play shine through here. I have no doubt when I read this that you have been developing your own thoughts on Antony and how the play will unfold.

What you must do now is begin to explore the language in great detail in order to develop your interpretation.

Have another look at Javaun’s Robert Frost piece so that you might see how to develop a purposeful exploration of the language:

  2. Hello Juan,

I can see that you have re-drafted this, but you’re still not achieveing Figure It Out yet.

Have a look at the criteria

You must clearly identify and critically explore the use of figurative and/or language devices.
